Adam Masterson - Bio

Adam Masterson is an exciting new artist from West London whose music over the last 2 years has grown remarkably and been well received in New York and more recently in London

Adam's musical odyssey begun after supporting the Brooklyn based band Marah on a tour of the U.K.  At London's Borderline venue, Marah frontman Dave Bielanko made Adam the offer of a place to stay if he  ever wanted to take his music to New York and Adam wasn't long in taking Bielanko up on his offer and soon found himself with his guitar and suitcase in Dave's Williamsburg apartment.

On his first night in town Adam opened for Marah at the Living Room in Manhattans Lower East Side. After the show he was offered an intern residency at the club making a great start.

He soon began making a name for himself, and his Monday night residency upstairs at the Living Room became a success.  People were coming from far and wide and Adam made more friends and fans every night.

Word spread to local club owners and concert promoters in Philadelphia and New Jersey and Adam was booked to play when he returned to the U.S.

Another New York artist to be struck by Adam's talent was Joseph Arthur who begun recording Adam acoustically at his art studio space in D.U.M.B.O Brooklyn

Jo introduced Adam to his band and Adam struck up a friendship with guitarist Jen Turner and her cousin the drummer Aaron Fisher, the trio began to record Masterson's songs with rhythm section backing at one of their friends basement studios in Park Slope Brooklyn

It was during this session that Adam, wrote and recorded the track "Bad Luck Baby"

The momentum was rolling, he now had a loyal following who packed out his shows, a synergy of musicians round him, and his confidence as a performer was blossoming.

However it was at this time that his short term visa expired and in January 2008 Adam returned to London.

He was a changed performer from the one who had left London, and returned more focused and determined than ever to make a name for himself in his native city. However he was also aware that the wave of enthusiasm he'd built up in New York would be left behind, and in London he'd be starting again.

Fate was to intervene and within a few days of being back Adam got a call to play at the opening night of the now legendary Carbon Casino, under the Westway in Ladbroke Grove.  Adam played at no less than 4 of the 7 gala performances in support of Mick Jones/Tony James’ Carbon Silicon

DJ Gary Crowley took a particular shine to the track "Bad Luck Baby" and began to play the Park Slope recording made only one month earlier on his BBC London radio show.  He invited Adam onto the show for a live acoustic session.

The momentum from NYC had carried over and translated to London.  An important connection was made with London based music business manager Clive Banks, and Adam was delighted to find himself back in the studio again recording his songs.

New fans were being made and in June 2008 Patti Smith called Adam up onstage to join her and her son Jackson for an acoustic encore of her classic "Gloria" at the Phillips de Pury gallery in London's Victoria

An albums worth of material is in the can and was mastered over the Christmas at Rockfield Studios by London based producer Sean Genocky, the recordings are already causing excited ripples in the U.K music press

2009 has already seen Adam perform with Mick Jones at the official launch of the Great Ormond Street Hospital children's charity "Mummy Rocks!" The pairs performance prompted Orlando Bloom to jump up for an impromptu sing-a-long and the trio's finale of Mick's Clash classic "Should I Stay or Should I go" went down a storm.

Masterson has just recently received approval for artists visa classification to work in the U.S and his new website will be up shortly. A video shoot of his track Sunday Girl is booked in London in May.
