The night is still ahead
by admin on Aug.20, 2010, under General
Gold bug nights at The Boogaloo keep getting better and better. Andrew or Roo Panes opened the evening. I didn’t know it was his first gig ever until he’d told me afterwards. I’d met him the week before at a house party i’d played for a friend. He sung a few songs, I thought he was pretty good and invited him down The Boogaloo to play. Chapo Roo
Next up was Grace Banks who I saw recently at The Half Moon in Putney, look out for Grace, she got something special going on
Anto Dust and Kristian Marr were both swingin’ and bought a good crowd down too. I played a set in between them. Fun times.
The sound now at The Gallery is first rate after our initial teething problems on first night. I’m heading out there to play tonight. We got Steve Mahoney and Emily Moment playing a set, I’ll be on about 9, and the fantastic Real Fur will be playing the finale. Be the first time I seen them full band. I’ve played a few gigs with their front man Leo and he’s pretty damn cool. Lets see if they live up to there billing!

Flow songs

Played at an event last week in the Imagination Galleries for flow songs and Pure the radio manufacturers, they’ve put out a new radio called ’sensia’ which allows you to identify the track you’re listening to through Shazam, then click to buy the track if you want it then stream it through all your mp3 players. Neat bit of kit.
There was about 150 suited men and women in the room. I went on just before 5 in the afternoon. These sort of things are always a little odd. Business dudes sitting there staring up at you, stoney silence, polite applause… but come my second song I had a bit of a spirit going on. I could have been singing to myself in the bathroom for all I cared, y’know I was enjoying myself.
You come off stage after your three songs and think well that went down like a lead balloon, lets head to the bar, have a beer, and soon as I can pack my stuff down I’m outta here.
I’d gone down better than I’d thought, every one was super sweet getting me drinks and sticking business cards in my pocket. I ended up talking to this guy who was Pink Floyd’s original manager. We had a long chat about Syd Barret, and his Mad Cap Laughed record. That was more than I bargained for.
People at Pure were sweet too and thanked me for playing. I was cheeky and asked the CEO if he could send me through one of his Sensia radio’s (they come to about £2000 plus) he said ‘Ofcourse’. I hope the marketing peeps send me one. He did promise me!
Sung myself horse

Take two at The Gallery tonight, Steve Mahoney will be my guest again. Doors are at 8pm and we have DJ paul from the Goldbug Club spinning tunes till steve’s set at 8.30 i’ll be on sometime after 9.
Thanks to everyone who came down to The Gallery last Friday night. Had some serious sound issues. No sound engineer and all that was working was DJ mic managed to play a set with the one mic on the guitar and singing live into the room. Sung myself horse for two sets but possibly the best gig i ever done! No really the audience made it. Hope to see some of you there again tonight
