Last night in NYC tomorrow 3/22nd playing two sets first early at Rockwood Music Hall 6pm then later at Googies Lounge upstairs at The Living Room 9.30pm come out for a cocktail!

Both spots are in the lower east side with Rockwood at 196 Allen street just south of Houston and The Living Room at 154 Ludlow between stanton and Rivington.

Will be playing different songs in each set, and trying a few new ones! Have had an amazing trip, will miss NYC. If you’re in town would love to see you one more time!

Thanks to my friends in Toronto for showing me a great time in their city. I stayed at my friends apartment just off Queen street near the Gladstone Hotel. I finished off a new song there called ‘Shadowplay’ which was cool.

Liked the neighborhood, also checked out nearby Parkdale found a bar called the Cadillac Lounge and a few other spots that would be great to play again in the future.

Canada music week was also happening while I was in town so I got to check out a few shows. Saw a chap called Rehan Delal play at The Bread and Circus (good spot) in Kensington Market and then across the street at The Supermarket I saw Emmanuel Jal.

Played my own gig Monday 14th at The Free Times Cafe. Great place to find your feet in Toronto. Been going for about 30 years run by Judy Perly. I met Judy and she made me feel at home right away. She’d reserved a couple of tables for me and my friends and we all had something to eat before my set.

It was an open mic night at Free Times but I got given a few extra songs as an ‘out of towner’ at 9pm… great sound they run at free times, restored my faith after Lakeside in what having good sound can do.

I gotta warm welcome, my pals had done a great job at telling their pals about the show and it felt like a home gig!

Afterwards we all headed to a bar called The Detour in Kensington Market. There was an open stage going on there too and I jumped up and played for about 30/40mins… played ‘Shadowplay’ seemed to go down well, also played a bunch of songs I haven’t played for a while like ‘Rusty Cans and Dusty Alley’s’ gonna start throwing that back in the set again.

First time in Canada, great first time in Toronto. Want to be back again soon!

Amazing gig at Lakeside Lounge… thanks to everyone who came out, you made it a special night. Lakeside Lounge isn’t the best venue for sound and musically I was battling against the elements but the audience made it. New York City the best place on earth to play a show bar none. Have added two more sets before I head back to London, both happening on my last night March 22nd Rockwood Music Hall at 6pm and Googies Lounge above Living Room 9.30pm. Hope to see some of you again for the last hurrah till next time

We’ve put together another great line up for the The Gold Bug Club @ The Boogaloo. My sister Laura Masterson will again be hosting the night.  Dublin band Bipolar Emire will be headlining plus Woody Guthrie-esque American troubadour Emit Bloch and all the usual Gold Bug Gang.  If you’re in London town Thursday eve- get down there! Thanks to everyone who braved the heavy rain for my Sunday night gig at Rockwood music hall. It’s still my favorite spot, and always has the best sound.

First song ‘Downtown’ seemed to register more with the New York crowd than it has in L.A and London but maybe that’s because I’ve played it in more!

Afterwards I saw a great set from a scottish born artist Freddie Stevenson, and earlier in the night I’d watched Emily Moment and Steve Mahoney perform for Emily’s E.P launch- their voices worked great together. Steve runs a music night at Paddy Reilly’s music bar 519 2nd Avenue which I’m gonna play at tonight 9pm.

Met up with guitarist Terry Derkach at the opening of a store in the east village last week. He invited me down to his studio over the weekend, a sweet spot just off 6 ave on w. 25th street. What started out as a jam and get to know each other soon turned into a recording session. Laid down a version of ‘The Wind’ on his Danelectro 12 string… exciting to be recording new stuff!

Met up with a u.k concert and festival promoter over the weekend, gave him a CD of my songs, hopefully some U.K festival dates in the pipeline this summer!

Gearing up for my gig Sunday night at Rockwood Music Hall. I’m on at 11pm. Rockwood’s in the lower east side at 196 Allen Street. Looking forward to trying out some new songs.

Also been working on next weeks line up for The Gold Bug Club at The Boogaloo, it’s the best one yet and is happening Thursday March 10. If you’re in London you should definitely go, I’ll be posting all the acts on the bill shortly…
