Playing with full 4 piece band at The Bowery Electric tonight… it’s a 7.30 sharp show… I think a 45 min set. Met band through a new friend I’ve made out here Lewis. He’s lead singer songwriter of the group Sky White Tiger and has set me up with some great players, we’re running through the set at 4 today and then headed to do the gig from there… its very exciting

Anna Gabriel has edited and finished a music video she has directed for my song ‘Can’t Control myself’ which I’ll be posting here tomorrow so lots going on!

Went along to Bob Gruen’s birthday party last night at The R-Bar on Bowery. Caught up with a bunch of New York friends which was fun and it sounds like they’ll be a few people out for the show Thursday which is exciting.

Bumped into Jesse Malin and he said I may be able to start the night with a couple of songs at a show he’s got coming up somewhere near Philedelphia? That would be ace. We’re also gonna try and hook me up with another show at The Bowery Electric while I’m in town. All good will keep you posted, hopefully more gig in the pipeline!

Saw a great band the other night, called Spirit Family Reunion. They were playing outdoors in Chelsea at the big screen plaza outside The Aventi Hotel.

Fronted by Nick Pancan, there a skiffle band from Red Hook Brooklyn with heart warming sound that gets you moving.  Well worth checking out their myspace and catching a show.

They were playing the Invisible Children/Voice project event for CMJ and not knowing who was on the bill or what to expect they were a very welcome surprise.

Coincidentally they’re playing Rockwood this Thursday too at midnight. Not sure if I’ll stick around for that as i’ll probably be getting drunk elsewhere by then… but I definitely wanna catch them play again on this trip.

Hey I’ve arrived in New York. went out to Coney Island on my first day last week, went on the rides on lunar park, glorious day the weather was still holding out, but turning a little chill now.

Had a nice easy week, after a hectic but fun end of run in London. The gig at Blacks on Dean Street was a good one, small and intimate like playing in someone’s living room. The gig at The Wheatsheaf in Parson’s Green on the other hand was a riot, everyone out on a Friday night, played on and off for nearly three hours and it was dancing all night… good times.

Been chillin here, trying to finish off this song I’m working on called ‘Speaking In Tounges’

Was in Barnes and Noble on Union Square this week and caught Greil Marcus doing a talk on a new book he’s bought out on The Doors, found the his talk a bit boring and intense, but nevertheless like him as a writer and got his book and another resent one on Dylan. Whether I’ll get round to reading them who knows? But I’m a sucker for a sale if I meet someone in person.

Next show is Rockwood Music Hall this Thursday 27th Oct. Early one at 7pm prompt.
