Hey I’m busy working on the E.P artwork been collecting up my ideas and speaking with a few graphic designers.

Thanks for the positive feedback from the digital download of the tracks. Been listening this week, made a change to the sequence of the tracks and much happier now… the 4 tracks feel like a piece.

I’m in L.A for some gigs I have here and am listening to the tracks with fresh ears. Hearing lots of elemental images in the lyrics and want to get that into the visual artwork. Words like the Euphrates keep popping out when i listen, and make me think of things that have been hear long before we have. The Wind also makes me think of the desert out here in California, so I’m gonna go out with a bunch of friends and take some images from there.

These ideas should take a few weeks to thread together and plan, so realistically you should be receiving your signed CD’s in June. Thanks for your patients but reckon it will be worth the wait!

(And if there are any of you out here on the west coast I’m playing The Bootleg theater Silverlake this Saturday May 12th at 10pm)

We’ve met the Pledge target!! Thank you to everyone who has pledged we can now master and package the album with artwork and get it out there!!

Will be mastering the E.P at Air studios in London next week… time to celebrate!!

Karamel Club

Played the Karamel Club last night in Wood Green with Richard Causon on keys and Tim Bye on percussion. It’s right beneath the Chocolate Factory where we’ve been recording. Great club ran by wonderful host Chris Sheehan, good turn out happens every second Wednesday would definitely recommend it as a night out!

After the gig I took my family up to the studio and played them the mixes they liked and the mixes getting some good feedback from friends also the pledge campaign has taken a real boost this week! Up to 75% so it looks like all is on course!

Mixing!

Mixing now at The Chocolate Factory… always find it a bit nerve racking at the end of a session, listening to tracks for over 10 hours a day very intense, you can over listen to things… Karmaloca though was mixed today and is sounding epic no doubt about that.

Pledge is still under 50% with only 3 weeks left so all a bit nail-biting…. but that’s the way its always meant to be right?

The Chocolate Factory- overdubs!

We’re overdubing at Richards studio inside the Chocolate factory Wood Green. So far today we put an old 1969 Univox Synth, Glockenspiel and Tack piano (Honky Tonk piano) on Speaking In Tongues.

Matt Deighton form Mother Earth who’s played with everyone from Paul Weller to Oasis laid down some electric guitar on the track.

I overdubed a 12string guitar on ‘Downtown’ and Richard fired up the Leslie speaker and put some B3 Hammond organ down, aswell as some Wurlitzer and Mellotron! There were no overdubs on ‘The Wind’ apart from a Hammond over dub.

We put some electric guitar down on ‘Karmaloca’, as well as a Dulcitone which has a real heavenly sound. I put the only backing vocals down on this track, and Richard had the inspired idea of taking one of the metal legs off his wurlitzer and stricking it like a gong making it sound like Tibetan singing bowl.

We used all all the live vocal takes from Realworld. Good few days work… very happy

Speaking In Tongues E.P (Working title)

It went really well at Realworld! We tracked four songs ‘Speaking In Tongues’, ‘Downtown’, ‘Karmaloca’ and ‘The Wind’. Have a working title of Speaking In Tongues E.P. Excited about the pledge campaign which seems to be coming along and finally releasing something!!! thank you for all your support!

We now head back to London to Richard’s studio in The Chocolate factory Wood Green for overdubs.

Recording at Realworld Sudios

Two days recording at Realworld Studios in Bath. Working with Richard Causon producing and engineering. Have worked with Richard before on my last release ‘Sunlight Song’ single. Richard will also be playing piano and keys on the session.

We’re working in the wooden room here at Realworld where Richard has just been playing and engineering on the new Tom Jones record with Ethan Johns.

Small homely room in amongst the Bath countryside, sound of running water can be heard from the streams outside the studio. Peaceful place is Realworld

Also working with some fantastic musicians… Charlie Jones on bass, of Goldfrapp and Page and Plant and Rob Brian on drums who’s worked with modern English among others. The two days have gone really well, we’ve been filming the session and will be posting a short video blog.

It’s a low budget recording, and with just two days at Real World we’ll be laying down a four track E.P, two tracks a day. But the quality of the musicians is premier league and I’m really excited to hear the results!
